So...what now?

The last two months of school are gouge-my-eyes-out boring and, stupidly, I thought senior year would change that. I was wrong. Not only am I bored but I'm also stressed, tired, and vibrating with a need to graduate. With all that stuff, you'd think I'd be too busy to be bored.

In light of this boredom that makes me want to tear out my hair, here's a few things I've been doing to stimulate my brain before it turns to sludge:

1. Blogging– Obviously. You wouldn't be reading this if I wasn't bored.

2. Writing– I actually wrote an entire book and am writing another one. Maybe, you should read it when it comes out.

3. Dream journaling– This is a lot of fun once you really get into it. And, I read that if you write down enough of your dreams, it trains your brain to start remembering them more. The last dream I had was a really vivid one about Barack Obama.

4. Crocheting– I started this a few years back but I stopped being interested for a while. I'm back to it now and, so far, I've made a giant sweater/shawl thing and half of a scarf.

5. Watching WWE– Another thing I started almost two years ago out of sheer boredom. It's one of my favorite things to do on Monday and Friday nights and the storylines are easy to get interested in (if you suspend your disbelief for a few hours).

And lastly...

6. Baking– Specifically, I made a sourdough starter. Her name is Margaret and yes, she is my daughter. I haven't made any bread yet but we'll get there. Don't worry.

That's the end of my list. I am leaving you with all that information, hoping you never again wonder what to do when you got nothin' to do.

The thing about Darwinism.

I've been thinking a lot about this summer being my last before I go away to college. I'm not sad that high school is going to be over soon and I'm not sad that I won't be able to see my friends as usually as I do which can't be said for a lot of people my age. This isn't me trying to brag about how emotionally secure I am because it's okay to be sad about this being the end but there's a problem when it starts to ruin your life.

I wanted to talk about coming to terms with change. I've been experiencing a lot of my "lasts" in terms of being a kid and it has made me realize how often things change. If you really think about it, every single second is a small change in life that you don't pay attention to. For example, as I'm writing this, each second that passes is one second closer to me posting this entry, someone possibly reading it, and hopefully, someone learning from it. Another example, each second that passes is one second closer to my next birthday which means I'm getting older, wiser, and definitely cooler.

What I'm trying to say is that change happens so often that it doesn't deserve the amount of anxious energy we pour into it. If something happens for the last time, to me, that's a sign to find something new. Don't be scared of the change that you recognize as inevitable. People spend way too much time worrying about things they can't control. I can't control the fact that I turn 18 in five months, that's just how life goes. Instead of freaking out over getting old, what I can do is enjoy my last few months as a 17 year old and get as excited as possible for being an 18 year old.

I'm a firm believer that everything happens for a reason. Specifically, I believe that every change in life, even if it doesn't feel good at the time, has everything to do with teaching you something. Change is life's learning curve and you can either get with it or stop evolving.

A little evolution never hurt anyone.

I made a blog!

After about 15 consecutive hours of TikTok research and debating on whether or not I wanted to spend money on this, I have ended up on blogspot. I'm not complaining because from what I've seen, the asking price for your own website is between $20 and $200 alone. This feels like the right choice so, here I am trying to keep myself busy.

Being that I'm a senior in high school coming up on the tail end of second semester, I have a lot of free time. Like too much free time. And no, that doesn't mean I don't have homework to do because I do. Probably a lot but this is more important.

I just got back from a spring break trip and it kind of made me realize how little I do in a day. I go to school, come home, and sit around staring at my phone. Sometimes I crochet something but that gets boring after a while. Most of the time I either try and edit the book I just wrote or continue writing the other one sitting in my computer. Other than those things, I do literally nothing.

So, for now, this is me making an effort to busy myself with something.

I don't have any blog experience, I don't even read other blogs (which I plan to change because there are some interesting people out there) but I think I can manage on my own.

As for what I plan to talk about, expect random things my brain fixates on, movie or tv show rants, shameless promotion when it comes to my books (please please read them please), school stuff, and maybe the occasional small details from drama I hear about.

I hope you stick around to hear about me and my life.
