First + Second Week of College

I finally got my new laptop soooooo here is the long awaited update about my life that I know hundreds of millions of people have been dying to see. I can't lie, I've been dying to write it.

Okay, I'll start with move in day. I came day early so that my sister and I could have a seamless transition which means I spent the night in my dorm room all by my lonesome. Please, feel bad for me. My school has curfew for the first two months so, I nearly missed that but I made it. I wasn't outside being crazy and having fun, I fell asleep too early. I'm lame, I get it.

The next day, my roomie arrived (#lovethatgirl) and we pretty much hit off immediately. We were texting for a little bit before but only to get logistical stuff in order, nothing crazy. Our room is absolutely adorable and if I weren't afraid of pedophiles finding me, I would totally show you guys. Unfortunately, you'll just have to use your imagination.

Fast forward a few days, I attend my first real college party. Total snoozer and I now hate the venue it was at. But, we move forward. I got all my classes squared away, got ran around by admin while trying to switch my major, sweated bullets because I stupidly chose a school in the South, and eventually figured everything out.

I finally got my student ID (thankfully before they started locking everything). I went to another party, a frat party, where a fight broke out between the frats and I was very close to it when it happened. I even got a video.

Sidenote: I L-O-V-E HBCU strolling.

Back to the update, I went on a Target run and replenished my snack drawer because I was running low, the freshman class had our induction ceremony, classes have officially started giving out work (I guess I love journalism), and the days just keep getting longer.

I'm in desperate need of real food.

The chocolate soft serve in the dining hall just got back to working, my friends (the cookie fairies) came over with Halloween themed cookies and then ended up getting early curfew with their entire dorm (not their fault) but it's okay.

We went to the beach for Labor Day, I got assigned a project for my University 101 class, and now I am typing vigorously in this entry before I rise from the past five hours spent writing my new screenplay and go make ramen noodles for dinner.

College is exactly as advertised.

All in all, these last two weeks of school have been such a different experience than I'm used to. It's early but I am already learning new things about myself and I really hope that doesn't stop any time soon.

If you have just started school, which I assume everyone has, I just want to say that this year and the next years to come will be your greatest. It doesn't matter if you're in middle school, high school, or about to graduate college. You are ready and you know you're ready.

If it's all right with you, this is going to be the end of this entry so, please, please, please stay frosty, YBG.

Newbie Alert!!

I just broke double digits in views on my last post and now I have a big head.

SO, I'm taking this opportunity of hopefully reaching new viewers and asking some veterans a few blog-related questions.

For starters, how do I make my guestbook visible on my blog page? Like, I want to be able to see the messages on my blog page instead of having to switch to the website I used.

Are most of you coding or is there a much easier and simpler way to do the fun gadgets? I'm totally down for learning how to code this kind of stuff but I definitely won't if I don't have to.

What are your opinions on posting your face on your blog? I was warned against it because there are obviously weirdos on the internet but does that really translate here?

Okay, those are all the serious questions for now.

In other news, who is excited about the Better Than The Movies movie? I can feel my insides liquifying out of excitement. BTTM has been my favorite book for a few years and Lynn Painter is my favorite author. This is a dream come true and to have David Iacono playing Wes...I couldn't ask for anything more. Honestly.

In personal news, move-in day is two weeks away, me and my roomie are now super duper cool, and I'm more excited for NSO week than I can put into words.

For now, that's all the juice I can squeeze form this lemon of life.

Please stay frosty (or toasty), YBG

Dating…eugh

A bit of a late bloomer…

I’ve never had a boyfriend. Never had a talking stage. Never even been told someone had a crush on me (until a few months ago). Please, don’t call me an incel, I swear I’m normal.

But, I’ve been very okay with being on my own (except for that one week in sophomore year) and I don’t plan on changing that.

However, given that life has a mind of its own, the universe decided to send me someone. Kind of.

It’s not actually anything, now that I think about it but, words have been exchanged and I’m inclined to believe at least one of us would like for it to go somewhere.

Moving on, I’ve had the opportunity to witness all of my friend’s relationships, talking stages, and whatever else.

So, here’s the conclusion I’ve come to.

I’m in no mood to seek out a boyfriend.

If it comes to me, then it comes to me but, I refuse to play Ring Around The Rosie for someone’s attention. And I definitely won’t be competing for it either.

I don’t like dishonest people and, praying this doesn’t happen in real life, if you aren’t feeling me, tell me.

And if it really hurts that bad to tell me, ghost me. I would love to be left alone more than anything.

Now, this isn’t a smear campaign on dating as a whole. I love love and I love that people are in love. What I don’t love is pre-dating culture and I don’t love the people who participate in it.

I guess this is a message to all the talking-stage/situationship/friends-with-benefits people of the world, be who you are away from me. No shade, it’s your life.

That’s it. Stay frosty, YBG
